The brief from the client was to create a beautiful, comfortable, real and timeless family home where they could raise and spend quality time with their two young children; and at the same time, formally entertain friends and family. The design encompassed these needs whilst responding to design ethos of the Simbithi creating harmonious relationships of internal & external spaces synonymous with the Eco Estate. Having two sites afforded the rare opportunity of providing all the required accommodation on one level. 570m² of living space connects the formal and informal spaces via a vast farm-style verandah that runs the length of the house. The expansive landscaped garden overlooks the 100yr fl ood plain and varies from a extensive manicured lawn, on which the children freely play, to creative rockeries, a fruitful vegetable garden, jungle gym, an outdoor shower and swimming pool.
